To apply for the ULCHS PhD program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Candidates should be affiliated with one of the RETAIN partners.

Applicants must hold a master’s degree in basic or biomedical sciences and/or public health, with a minimum GPA of 3.00.

All required documents should be uploaded online as PDF or Microsoft documents in the following format: your first_last name followed by the type of document (e.g., Klubo_Kpelle_Letter of Recommendation work_MOH).

A curriculum vitae (no more than three pages) with three references (at least one professional/work and one academic).

Unofficial transcripts for bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

Three letters of recommendation, ONLY a mix of at least one from a professional colleague and academic reference.

A research concept summarizing the applicant’s proposed research focus that should be 3-4 pages.

Personal statement/motivation letter explaining your goals and interest in the program that should align with your research concept Should be 1-2 pages.

Duration & Fees
Each PhD program has a duration of 4 years minimum and 8 years maximum, allowing students the flexibility to complete their research and academic requirements at a pace that suits their individual needs. The cost of each program is $3,000 per semester.
