FACULTY DEVELOPMENT
CENTER FOR TEACHING, LEARNING, AND INNOVATION
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Training the next generation of healthcare providers starts with excellent teachers and mentors. CTLI's Faculty Development program aims to both increase the number of faculty and instructors at ULCHS and strengthen the skills of those already in teaching roles.
The program serves as a coordination hub for faculty training activities, maintaining a schedule of trainings and managing an archive of training materials.

Currently, the Faculty Development program delivers three annual trainings: Pedagogy Training, Mentorship Training, and Residents as Teachers and Leaders (RATL) Training.
These programs have employed a training-of-trainers approach, in which expert facilitators from partner institutions have worked with ULCHS faculty to customize teaching content and build facilitation skills. Currently, these three trainings are primarily facilitated by ULCHS faculty.

The program also provides guidance and coordination for faculty trainings related to simulation education (led by the ELAB team), Camp xSEL instructor training, and other short-term professional development opportunities (such as seminars or guest lectures with experts from partner institutions).

With the twin goals of expanding its reach beyond the ULCHS campus and enhancing the sustainability of the program, the Faculty Development program aims to form partnerships with other higher education institutions in Liberia so that their faculty and instructors can participate in and benefit from training activities.
